Description

The tour starts in Durban where you are transported in a fully air-conditioned vehicle to the festival site. The tour begins outside your hotel and you will be picked up to travel 2-3 hours to Kwazulu-Natal Nongoma at Nyokeni palace. During the tour, you have the opportunity to witness thousands of young Zulu girls singing and dancing. The dance celebrates the unification of the Zulu nation and the king, and young girls are taught the importance of keeping their virginity until marriage as only virgins girls participate in the event. The girls come from different villages and make their way to the palace where the ceremony takes place. Thousands of young girls from different villages around the province carry the reed-sticks which have been cut by the riverbed. Witness the singing and dancing of the girls as they make their way to the palace. After, return to Durban and be dropped off at your hotel at around 07:00 PM.
